The Ride On Centre for Kids (ROCK), a non-profit organization in Georgetown, Texas, has been using the MiraColt™ as part of its equine-assisted therapy/ hippotherapy and activities to help children with physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities.

Saddle Up!’s mission is to provide children and youth with disabilities the opportunity to grow and develop through therapeutic, educational, and recreational activities with horses. Saddle Up! has been using the MiraColt since 2019 to complement its equine assisted therapy program.

The MiraColt™ is not a replacement for a horse. Discovering and maximizing the synergistic benefits of having both the horse and the MiraColt as part of therapeutic intervention for clients, has been a game changer in delivering outcomes for centers like the ROCK. Dr. Nancy Krenek, shares a couple of those benefits.

In March 2021, Chariot Innovations was privileged to have a donor give Rise School and Vine School in Texas a MiraColt each. The schools help children with disabilities in an inclusive environment. The impact of the devices in both schools has been immediate and a great joy to follow.

Joe S., a 24-year-old young man who has cerebral palsy, has been using the MiraColt™ on a regular basis since July 2020 as part of in-home physical therapy. The MiraColt has helped Joe sustain and improve positive outcomes from previous hippotherapy.

In July 2019, a preliminary 6 weeks study by Leah S Goudy, Brandon Rhett Rigby and a team from Texas Woman’s University, using the MiraColt, showed that the simulated horseback riding improved balance and cognitive impairment in older adults with Parkinson’s disease.

The design of the MiraColt was inspired by the benefits that were being experienced during horseback riding in Hippotherapy. Chariot Innovations introduced the MiraColt to therapy centers in 2016. These centers have enjoyed imilar benefits to having a horse for therapy in an environment where they couldn’t have a horse.
